James Carville coined the phrase, “It’s the economy, stupid,” during Bill Clinton’s 1992 Presidential run. Tactically, this helped Clinton win the election. Strategically, this catchphrase is not a reliable bellwether for winning hearts, minds and elections as demonstrated by Obama’s victory during the worst economy since the Great Depression.
What drives citizens is morality. Goodness, kindness, fairness, and justice are ingrained in human nature and deep within the American psyche. Unfortunately for Conservatives, while their policies rest on a morally superior philosophy and produce ethically superior results, they’ve allowed Liberals to win the PR battle on morality.
On every major issue, from gun control to health care, Liberals not only anoint themselves as morally superior, but they systematically demonize Conservatives as morally inferior. This is in spite of the fact that Liberal policies are devastating to everyone, especially the groups to which they kowtow.
When Barack Obama took office unemployment rate among blacks was 12.7%. It rose to 16.7% at one point during his first term but still remains at 14%. Hispanic unemployment rate was at 9.9% in October 2012, more the 2 percentage points above the national average. Yet minorities see Liberals as the good guys.
Who has a REAL war on women? According to “More Guns Less Crime,” by John R. Lott, Jr. “One additional woman carrying a concealed handgun reduces the murder rate for women by about 3-4 times more than one additional man carrying a concealed handgun reduces the murder rate for men. This occurs because allowing a woman to defend herself changes her ability to defend herself much more than it would for a man.”
Despite the fact that Liberal gun control policies pose a substantial threat to women’s safety, Republicans are demonized as hostile towards women.
Inflation, another hallmark Liberal economic policy, hurts senior citizens on fixed incomes, while explosive government debt destroys the dreams of our youth that will bear its burden.
It’s time for the Right to stop referring to itself as Capitalist Pigs, Compassionate Conservatives and every other appeasement laden moniker that yields the moral high ground to Liberals. It’s time to demonize the Left with a steadfast righteousness because THEY are the demons. Liberal, Socialist policies have left and continue to leave a record of horrific social and economic devastation, which can’t be ignored even by the staunchest defenders of Liberalism. The only explanation for the Left’s relentless pursuit of Socialism is the quest for power over the people of America, to rule unopposed and to make us all like it!
It’s time for the Right to seize the moral high ground. It’s the morality, stupid!
