A Better Message from Ted Cruz

Here’s what’s wrong about Ted Cruz’s response in his 2 minute video that aired on CNN not long ago. No one is asking Cruz to “come like a servile puppy dog and say thank you very much for maligning my wife and maligning my father.” He could have said, “The personal attacks on my wife and father were inappropriate. They don’t belong in politics and especially not in the Republican Party. However, I’m a man of my word. I support Donald Trump because our country can’t afford a Hillary Clinton Presidency. I will be working to hold Mr. Trump to the promises he made to the Conservative cause, and I suggest every voter do the same.”

Ted Cruz should use his own words obviously, but that could have been the essence of his speech at the convention. He could have valiantly stood by his wife and dad, yet done what was right for the country. He missed a wonderful opportunity to unite the GOP and demonstrate strength, grace and class.
